Consisting of 6 typescripts, 21 July 1875 - 24 Mar. 1904, including obituary notice of Louis Sherfesee; and copies of "Records of Hart's Battery" from the Charleston Weekly News, 21 July 1875, and other historical information on the regiment. Also includes volume, c. 1900, a history of Hart's Battery from its organization to the end of the war written by a committee consisting of Maj. James F. Hart, Dr. L.C. Stephens, Louis Sherfesee, and Charles H. Schwing; and 13 manuscripts on microfilm (R151), re his activities as Guidon Bearer of Hart's Battery, Hampton's Horse Artillery, C.S.A. Volume, 1874-1888, containing minutes of monthly meetings of the Charleston Commercial Brotherhood, 1874-1876, a Reconstruction-era organization that sought to place its unemployed members with temporary or permanent positions with local merchants and others; this volume also includes a farm journal, 1882-1888, including labor accounts and records of weather conditions, crops planted, and livestock production.
